Work hard, play hard, race fast...
About Us

Lake Cities XC is a 'not for profit' distance training and development program for youth athletes in 3rd thru 8th grades, regardless of ability.  We compete locally, regionally and nationally throughout the year.

Lake Cities XC is not an elite or select program, however we do attract talented athletes and we do develop athletes with little or no experience into distance runners that attain elite times based on their age.

As a result of the above, Lake Cities XC prepares youth distance runners for a successful high school cross country experience.

It is not uncommon for our athletes to be well advanced of the typical freshman runner entering high school competition.

Lake Cities XC trains year round, with three distinctive seasons:

Fall – the fall season is our busiest season competition-wise.  We compete in middle school meets, 5K road races and either the AAU or USATF Junior Olympic XC National Championships. This season runs from mid-August thru mid-December.

Spring – the spring season is where we train for typically longer distances and work on building physical strength with our youth athletes. We typically compete in three or four road race events, with most of our athletes running at the 5K distance. A few of our older athletes train and run at the 10K distance. This season runs from early January thru mid – May.

Summer – the summer season is where we build our mileage base as preparation for the fall season. We began the summer running program in the summer of 2008, and it was highly successful at accomplishing the goal of getting our athletes farther into the late fall with continued stamina and speed.

NO TRYOUTS OR EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - just bring a good attitude, willingness to work, and a desire to run faster!

Our Mission
